I don’t know that I’m any different than any other creative actively pursuing their dream. What I will say is that I’m championing the future of television and cinema by telling authentic, diverse, and original stories that Hollywood has been missing for quite some time.

“I just let the fear go and wrote it,” Boyd says. Inspired largely by his lived experiences, the script flowed easily and gave him a reason to stay positive during an otherwise dark time. “George Floyd’s murder had just happened, and I genuinely needed some reason to laugh,” he says. “I’d only written dramas before, but I was like, ‘I can write a comedy. I can do this.’”
